STORIES IN WALLS

An old apartment with crumbling walls, unoccupied and barricaded by a chain.

If those walls could let loose the stories of the lives that were lived within them, I would love to listen.

HIGH SCHOOL TALENT

Our High School had "CAFE"- their annual talent show, which includes individual performers as well as performances by the Jazz Band and Show Choir. The Jazz Band donned "70's" attire for the show and the saxophone section decided to wear fake mustaches as well.

A few more of my favorite shots from from the show.

GONE FISHING

With a freshly cleaned tackle box, we'll soon be heading to the lake to find out whether Alice or I, catch the first fish. It's been a few years since I've had to hook them and let her reel them in. She's now as good at fishing as I am. I'm glad she still likes to fish.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON CAT NAP

Cats and knitting go together like meat and potatoes. Throw in a cold Sunday afternoon with naps all around, and it just doesn't get any better.

TRAIN RIDE

I've never taken a real train ride, just the amusement park kind. It's something I want to do someday.

THIRSTY ROOTS

The tree stands tall and strong.
Trees don't want anything, but they do need things. Obviously this one is getting what it needs.
A few more bouts of flooding and it's likely to become a bridge across the creek.

CLARINETIST

Concentration and coordination.
Eyes, lips, fingers, movement, breathing.
Music, musician.

ON A HILL FAR AWAY

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For 'twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

TREE STREAKS

A slow shutter speed combined with camera movement up or down gives a kind of streaky look. I'm sure it would work better during early morning or evening. A sunset or sunrise background would be nice. I'll definitely try this again.

WISDOM OF MEN

The weekly assignment at Digital Photography School was "Wisdom". Above is my entry.

Certainly, there are many ways to photographically interpret wisdom. The Bible is at the top of my list, but it being already well represented in the assignment forum, I decided to take my interpretation of wisdom from great inventions. This being a category that has quite a substantial number of things in it, I narrowed it down to what I had available in my workshop.

My method of "working on things" usually begins with finesse and precision, but sometimes gets replaced rather quickly by the "Brute Force and Duct Tape Method". Finesse and precision just takes too long.

THINKING BIG

------------View on Black----------------------------- View on Black

The tracks of the Central Rock Island and Pacific Railroad reached this town of Kellogg, Iowa in the spring of 1866. It continued it's Westward way, with the first train passing through Kellogg on July 1, 1867.

The Central Pacific and the Union Pacific Railroads were joined with a golden spike ceremony at Promontory Utah, on
May 10, 1869. The East coast of the United States was connected with the West coast.

Big ideas by some big thinkers.

PINKS

Just a few of the essential elements that make a girl pretty.
